Afrocentric Tourism

Come and discover the Afro history of the city with the largest Black population outside of Africa.

About the tour

Afrocentric Tourism is an immersive and transformative experience that values the memory, ancestry, and resilience of Black people. In Salvador – the most Black city outside of Africa – every street, every corner, and every cultural expression carries stories that span centuries of struggle and identity.

Educational Tour

Our Educational Tour was created with the purpose of going beyond the walls of the school and bringing students and teachers to this experience, transforming destinations into meaningful learning experiences. It allows students to learn through observation, interaction, and reflection in historical, environmental, scientific, or cultural sites.

According to Paulo Freire, education is a practice of freedom, where learning should be dialogical, with an exchange of knowledge.

Students should be seen as active participants in the learning process. Knowledge should originate from the reality experienced by the learners, promoting critical awareness and transformative action.

What you will experience:

  • Resistance Walk: through the streets of Pelourinho and the Historic Center, visiting places that were the stage of slavery, struggle, and freedom.

  • Afro-Brazilian and Cultural Museums: a rich collection that connects the past and the present.

  • Barra Region: a meeting point of faith, history, and cultural resistance.

  • Urban and Rural Quilombos: direct contact with traditional communities.

  • Islands of the Bay of All Saints: territories marked by African heritage and cultural diversity.

Who the tour is for:

  • Schools and universities that wish to offer students a hands-on experience in history, culture, and identity.

  • Teenagers and young people seeking to understand their ancestry.

  • Visitors and tourists interested in exploring Salvador from a new perspective, beyond conventional tourism.

Why choose Afrocentric Tourism?
